Editorial Απριλίου: Σκοτάδι και φως

Αυτές οι γραμμές γράφονται σε βαριά ατμόσφαιρα, λόγω του πολέμου στην Ουκρανία. Λέω «πόλεμος» και δεν μπορώ να πιστέψω ότι είναι πραγματικότητα για άλλη μία φορά στην Ευρώπη και όχι σκηνή σε πολεμική ταινία ή διήγηση σε ιστορικό βιβλίο. Νόμιζα ότι όλα αυτά ανήκαν στο παρελθόν, πως ο λεγόμενος δυτικός κόσμος είχε απαλλαγεί από αυτόν τον φόβο. Προσγειώθηκα απότομα, όπως όλοι μας φαντάζομαι.

Εδώ στη Vogue Greece έχουμε έναν παραπάνω λόγο να συμπάσχουμε με τους ανθρώπους που βιώνουν τόσα δεινά στην Ουκρανία, αφού ένα μέλος της «οικογένειάς» μας εκδίδεται εκεί. Και ναι μεν η Vogue UA δεν μπορεί να τυπωθεί υπό αυτές τις συνθήκες, οι φωνές των ανθρώπων της ωστόσο, είτε είναι εγκλωβισμένοι στον τόπο τους είτε πρόσφυγες σε γειτονικές χώρες, είναι δυνατές και συντάσσονται με όλους αυτούς που φωνάζουν σε όλο τον κόσμο για ειρήνη. Η Vogue Greece τούς ανοίγει την αγκαλιά της και υψώνει μαζί τους τη δική της φωνή εναντίον του πολέμου. Στις προηγούμενες σελίδες, ο editor in chief της Vogue UA, Philipp Vlasov, εκφράζει με πόνο και οργή τα συναισθήματά του για όσα συμβαίνουν, ενώ στις επόμενες, πέντε Ουκρανοί φωτογράφοι καταγράφουν την εμπειρία τους από τον πόλεμο, με την ελπίδα για ένα αίσιο τέλος στην καρδιά τους.

Με τη σκέψη μας σε εκείνους και με τη σεμνότητα που απαιτούν οι στιγμές, γιορτάζουμε την αξία της ζωής και της δημιουργίας με όμορφες εικόνες και πρωτότυπα concepts. Φέρνουμε κοντά ανθρώπους με λαμπερό παρελθόν και αξιόλογο παρόν, όπως η Helena Christensen και η Carla Bruni, συμμετέχουμε σε συζητήσεις με φαινομενικά διαφορετικές προσωπικότητες που όμως έχουν πολλά κοινά, υποδεχόμαστε σπουδαίους καλλιτέχνες και designers. Και όλα αυτά, ενώ γιορτάζουμε τα τρία μας χρόνια με καλεσμένους καλούς μας φίλους και, επιπλέον, εμφανιζόμαστε με καινούργιο look, με την υπογραφή της νέας μας art director, Rinetta Koskinidou, design που αγαπήσαμε και είμαστε σίγουροι ότι θα το απολαύσετε.

Η ζωή είναι εδώ, εδώ και η ελπίδα για ένα καλύτερο μέλλον.

Darkness and light

Writing these lines is not easy, due to heavy atmosphere caused by the war in Ukraine. I’m writing the word “war” and I can’t seem to grasp that it is once again a reality in Europe and not a scene in some war movie or a narration from a history book. I thought all that was a thing of the past, that the so-called Western world had ridden itself of this fear. I was in for a rude awakening, as were we all.

Here, in Vogue Greece we have an extra reason to feel for the people suffering in Ukraine, since a member of our “family” is published there. And even though Vogue UA can’t be printed under these circumstances, the voices of its people, who are either trapped in their homes or refugees in neighboring countries, are strong and joined by the voices of all those shouting for peace all over the world. Vogue Greece embraces and welcomes them into its arms and raises its voice along with theirs, protesting this war.

On previous pages, the editor in chief of Vogue UA, Philipp Vlasov, expresses his anguish and anger towards the situation, while in the following pages, five Ukrainian photographers share their experience of the war, expressing their hope that this all ends well. We wish for the same, for as the saying goes, it’s always darkest before the dawn.

While respectfully thinking of them, we are celebrating life and creation with beautiful images and original concepts. We bring together people with a bright future and an even brighter present, like Helena Christensen and Carla Bruni, and take part in conversations with seemingly different personalities who actually have a lot in common, and we welcome great artists and designers. All this, while celebrating our third year with guest friends, and launch a new look, signed by our new art director Rinetta Koskinidou, a design we adored and hope you enjoy as well.
