Days of nostalgia

When I was living in London, I followed the same route almost daily: Baker St., Marylebone Road, Chiltern St. Almost always, I ended up in front of Shreeji, the store with a great array of magazines. This is where I first saw a cover bearing the signature of Richard Phibbs. I bought the magazine and followed him faithfully, either through printed material, or on Instagram. With time, I realized he is an active activist for strays, a truly noble soul, a photographer that can create magical fashion images, as he did in our third issue, now in your hands, bringing change in a simple fashion photoshoot, creating the most beautiful summer memory. Richard was inspired by Mani and its towers that seem to be taken out of a fairytale. A place where the sky, the sea, the stone and the sun blend harmoniously, creating the ideal setting for his protagonist’s photoshoot. An area I hold dear, since it reminds me of one of the most beautiful and carefree summers of my teenage years, in 2005, filled with laughter, swimming, ice creams, strolls and music – a lot of music. It was then that I first listened to “Ruby Blue” by Rόisίn Murphy and would not stop singing it for months to follow. Fourteen years later, shortly before taking the Release Athens Festival stage, Rόisίn gives an exclusive interview to Vogue Greece for her development, her passionate relationship with fashion and the freedom it provides her, as well as the infamous sweater that launched her career.

Haider Ackermann, the master of tailoring, the designer that Karl Lagerfeld said would be his ideal successor in Chanel, also talked to us exclusively. Reading his very interesting interview, my university graduation day came to mind. An extremely hot summer day in June 2013, when I had to wear a jacket, regardless of the weather. “You should wear Ackermann”, a dear friend had told me, and indeed, I bought a tailored grey Ackermann jacket with an amazing neckline that I still wear to this day and that reminds me of the day my efforts bore fruit.

A woman that really knows what it means to put effort into what you are doing, is Olympic gold medalist at pole vaulting, Katerina Stefanidi, who has a conversation with Alexandra K* on the pages to follow. A warm, meaningful, spontaneous conversation that shows that besides being an excellent athlete, Katerina is also a beautiful person, who fights, succeeds and makes us all proud.

The strong sun (of the South, and not only) reminds us that summer is officially here and we have every reason to smile widely, since everything becomes more carefree!

PS: Here, at Vogue Greece, we have every reason to smile a bit more, since our two first issues were sold out in a few hours (a record time for Vogue at an international level), while our second cover story with Alique and Sasha Pivovarova have already been requested for syndication from two other international publications of the title. We cordially thank you for your love and trust!

Enjoy your reading and let us all have a wonderful summer!
