There is a light that never goes out*

Spring light is different. It makes you smile, without being able to tell why. Everything seems easier, lighter, more hopeful. It is this mood that Alique tried to capture, photographing Sasha Pivovarova on Long Island for our second issue, smiling subtly while being kissed by the evening setting sun, walking carefree on the damp sand, with the endless calm of the ocean in the background. The result is filled with emotion, measuring up to these two assertive and talented women.

Another fiery figure is featured on our pages, Dior’s artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the first woman on the helm of the historic house. In her exclusive interview, she talks about the way she sees fashion, the need for solidarity between women, her love for Greece, her millennial daughter and the new generation in general.

This new generation that redefines its attitude towards fashion, in search of more “moral” solutions, was at the center of the 5th Condé Nast International Luxury Conference, which took place in Cape Town a few days ago. I had the honor of attending and conversing with the CEO’s of Gucci and Tiffany, Marco Bizzarri and Alessandro Bogliolo respectively, for the new practices of their companies regarding the environment, sustainability, and conscious consuming. We live in an era, where the moral dimension in fashion should be a creative one-way street, as Elis Kiss aptly notes in her article.

Alexi Lubomirski, the most sought after photographer of our times, a true prince that promotes inclusion, diversity and, mostly, respect for human beings, is already on that path. He talks to Vogue Greece exclusively about the search for authenticity and the value of images, which “should make the fashion industry better, raise awareness, work as an instrument and not just a beautiful file”.

I am overwhelmed with joy that people who seek beauty and quality in life and offer us light and hope for better days are featured in this issue. Let’s follow their example.

Enjoy your reading!
