Δεν θα ξεχάσω ποτέ το σφίξιμο στο στομάχι μου ενώ παρακολουθούσα τη σκηνή που δημιούργησε τόσο αριστοτεχνικά ο Darren Aronofsky στο σκοτεινό του έπος Requiem for a Dream, με τους τέσσερις πρωταγωνιστές-αντιήρωες –ανάμεσά τους και η Jennifer Connelly– σε εμβρυακή στάση, να βλέπουν τα όνειρά τους να θρυμματίζονται και η πτώση τους να βρίσκεται μια ανάσα μακριά. Μια ταινία σαν συναισθηματική μνήμη, που ξεπερνάει την εικόνα και σε κάνει να νιώθεις το κάθε καρέ. Αυτή είναι η μαγεία του κινηματογράφου και του θεάματος γενικότερα: το να ζεις ιστορίες, να αγκαλιάζεις πρωτόγνωρα συναισθήματα, να ανοίγεσαι σε νέους ορίζοντες, να σκέφτεσαι πιο ελεύθερα.
Καθώς ο Μάιος είναι παραδοσιακά μήνας φεστιβάλ, συναυλιών και πολλών νέων ταινιών, το τεύχος που κρατάτε στα χέρια σας είναι αφιερωμένο στους ανθρώπους οι οποίοι με την τέχνη τους μας σημάδεψαν και μας άφησαν να γίνουμε μέρος του κόσμου τους. Είναι τεράστια τιμή και χαρά για εμάς εδώ στη Vogue Greece, που μας μιλούν και φωτογραφίζονται αποκλειστικά η οσκαρική Jennifer Connelly, η πολυβραβευμένη ιέρεια του γαλλικού σινεμά Claire Denis, η «βασίλισσα» του Netflix Shonda Rhimes, η «φωνή» του νορβηγικού συγκροτήματος Madrugada, Sivert Høyem, αλλά και έξι Έλληνες ηθοποιοί που έχουν αφήσει το δικό τους ιδιαίτερο στίγμα στη σκηνή και την οθόνη, και οι οποίοι φωτογραφίζονται με κέφι στον δρόμο, συνθέτοντας μια «παράσταση» αφιερωμένη εξαιρετικά στους αναγνώστες μας.

I will never forget the hollow feeling in my stomach when I was watching the masterfully directed scene Darren Aronofsky created for his dark film Requiem for a Dream, in which the four antihero leads – Jennifer Connelly being among them – are lying in a fetal position while watching their dreams being shattered and their imminent downfall approaching. It’s a film that works as an emotional memory that transcends the image and makes you feel each frame. That’s the magic of cinema and spectacle in general: it helps you experience stories, embrace new emotions, widen your horizons, think more freely.
As May is traditionally a month filled with festivals, concerts and many new films, the issue in your hands is dedicated to the people that have left their mark with their art and have let us become part of their world. It’s with great honor and joy that we welcome some unique artists, who are interviewed and photographed exclusively for Vogue Greece.
Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Connelly, multi-awarded priestess of French cinema Claire Denis, Netflix “queen” Shonda Rhimes, the voice of Norwegian band Madrugada, Sivert Høyem, as well as six Greek actors that have left their mark both on stage and on screen, who are cheerfully photographed on the street, composing a “performance” dedicated to our viewers.
