Φέτος μπήκα στο κλίμα των Χριστουγέννων από νωρίς. Στόλισα για πρώτη φορά το σπίτι μου στην Αθήνα, ψήσαμε gingerbread κουλουράκια, άναψα όλα τα χριστουγεννιάτικα κεριά ταυτόχρονα, ακούω στο repeat Michael Buble, έχω φάει ήδη πολλά μελομακάρονα και πανετόνε. Πολλά! Νιώθω για πρώτη φορά να απολαμβάνω τόσο αυτή τη γιορτή. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, αυτές οι μέρες δεν ήταν ποτέ έτσι όπως τις φανταζόμουν ή θα τις ήθελα. Άγχος, μελαγχολία, μοναξιά και λίγη ξενιτιά. Αυτός ο Δεκέμβριος, όμως, με βρήκε κλείνοντας ένα τεύχος σ’ ένα γραφείο γεμάτο γέλια, πολλά γέλια, με την καλύτερη ομάδα που θα μπορούσε κανείς να ονειρευτεί, μέσα σε μια κουζίνα να δοκιμάζω τα πιο ωραία φαγητά και γλυκά –ευτυχώς που εκείνος έχει τόσο ταλέντο σ’ αυτά–, γύρω από γιορτινά τραπέζια με υπέροχους ανθρώπους.
Το τεύχος που κρατάτε στα χέρια σας είναι αφιερωμένο στις αποφάσεις που παίρνουμε –ή και όχι– για τη νέα χρονιά, οι σελίδες του είναι γεμάτες με ανθρώπους που μας εμπνέουν, μας γεμίζουν αισιοδοξία και μας κάνουν να βλέπουμε τα πράγματα λίγο πιο φωτεινά. Εγώ με τη σειρά μου θέλω να σας ευχηθώ από καρδιάς το 2023 να είναι ακριβώς όπως το φαντάζεται ο καθένας σας. Να είναι μια χρονιά που θα χαμογελάμε και θα απολαμβάνουμε περισσότερο!

This year, the holiday spirit hit me early on. I decorated my house in Athens for the first time, we baked gingerbread cookies, I lit all the Christmas candles at once, I am listening to Michael Buble on repeat and I have already eaten a lot of melomakarona (Greek Christmas honey based dessert) and panettone. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot! It’s the first time that I enjoy this holiday so much. For the past few years, these days were never how I imagined or wanted them to be. Stress, melancholy, loneliness and a bit of homesickness. However, this December found me in an office filled with laughter, with the best team anyone could ever dream of, in a kitchen trying the most delicious food and desserts – thankfully, he’s so talented in the kitchen – and attending festive dinners with lovely people.
The issue in your hands is dedicated to the resolutions we make – or not – for the New Year, its pages are filled with people that inspire us, that make us feel optimistic and that make us see things a little brighter. I would like to wish for 2023 to be exactly as you imagine. Let it be a year filled with smiles that we‘ll enjoy more!
